A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST
1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).
I am a retired college science professor. When not painting, I enjoy living on the water in beautiful Florida, boating, camping, traveling, and also gardening.
2. Why do you make art?
When I see a beautiful scene or landscape, especially the interplay of shadow and light, the urge becomes more and more intense to get my hands and mind into it. It's almost a form of meditation planning and painting it.
3. What inspires you?
The interplay of shadow and light attracts me and inspires me, also the various colors found in nature.
4. What/who are your influences?
When I was a child visiting major art museums, the artist’s work that first drew my attention was Rembrandt, his interplay of shadows, darks and lights, and also some of the other Dutch Masters. I have also admired Monet, Renoir, Wyeth, Turner, Sargent, and many others.
5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?
The person that would be a great privilege to meet is Leonardo Da Vinci. He was a master of combining art and science into many of his works. He was able to see the possible science and technology of the future like no other.
